This book is one of my favorites. While it is nearly on the out-of-print list, I continue to purchase copies when I can find them, and give them away to encourage people who are struggling in pursuit of the life of faith, which, so often is merely "hearsay faith", not the product of personal relationship with the living Christ. J. Edwin Orr was one of the world's foremost scholars on the history and nature of God's merciful outpourings of revival. He was a man profoundly experienced with the "Presence, Power, Provision, Protection, and Promises of God. Virtually every page of the book is filled with Dr. Orr's testimonies of knowing God, instead of just knowing about the God who miraculously breaks into the lives of those who would spend their lives for Christ,in order to introduce Jesus to a world lost in spiritual darkness, and empty, powerless religiosity.
